Mining: Beneficial or Detrimental?

First and foremost, what comes to your mind whenever you hear the word "Mining"?

As stated in the article created by the National Geographic Society, Mining is the process of extracting valuable materials from the Earth's Lithosphere. These mined compounds are frequently referred to as minerals. Examples include coal, gold, copper, tin, nickel, iron ore, and diamonds.

Mining benefits humanity in a wide range of ways. Some of these are as follows: First, mining usually provides the things we need in our everyday lives. Without this activity, we would simply be unable to produce many vital commodities, and our product range would be significantly reduced. Second, mining can assist people in increasing their wealth. People may sometimes make a lot of money in mines, especially if they find precious materials. Third, it offers employment opportunities to those people who live near mountainous areas, particularly those who weren't able to pursue their education. Lastly, mining contributes to the growth of our economy.

On the other hand, mining is detrimental to our environment and society if it is not done properly. This activity is the primary cause of several environmental issues, including pollution (water, soil, and air), landslides, coastal erosion, and biodiversity loss. Furthermore, it has the possibility of causing serious injuries, health issues, and fatalities among miners and people living nearby.

Now, the question is, can I help resolve the mining problem despite the fact that I am a student? Yes, without a doubt! I can help to address this problem by doing small and simple things, such as advocating for change and participating in a mining-related government program.

In your point of view, is mining beneficial or detrimental?

One Down, Three To Go

It's amazing how rapidly time passes. This academic year's first quarter is about to end. Due to our current condition, I can say that the start of this school year is tough. Despite the difficulties, I learned a lot of new things, particularly in the field of information and communications technology (ICT). I  acquired knowledge on how to develop and post a blog during this quarter. At first, I felt web blogging was tough and uninteresting. However, as time passed, I learned that blogging is both interesting and valuable to students like me.

However, challenges and problems are unavoidable while learning. I came across those while creating my own blog. Here are some examples: First, I'm having trouble conceptualizing my ideas. There are times when I am unable to organize my thoughts. So, in order to address it, I wrote a draft and then organized it afterward. Second, difficulty in placing the photos in the proper location. One way that I'm doing to overcome it is browsing some videos or articles on the internet.  Fortunately, I discovered some reliable sources that assisted me in resolving this type of problem. Lastly, poor internet connection. When this kind of situation takes place, I could do nothing but wait until it was stable again.

Moving on, I will continue making interesting blogs. I am determined to do my very best in the next three quarters. For now, I can say that I survived. One-fourth of my tenth grade is now done. Padayon!
